Invert Colour

In GoWrite and for an SGF diagram, the colour of several or all setup stones is inverted as follows: 1. Mark stones. 2. Select a setup stones tool. 3. Double-click on one of the marked setup stones. This procedure inverts the colour of the marked setup stones but does not affect the colour the marke...

Re: Indirect Network Access

As the programmer explained to me, it is feature (not a bug) of GW to remain active as a process (for some time) after closing the GUI, so that GW can be opened again faster. I dislike this feature, but, as long as it exists, we need to act accordingly. I do not know if GW itself has any direct netw...

New Variation without New Diagram

GW 2.3.48. When I insert a new variation, automatically GW starts the variation with a new diagram. Usually, I find this useful. However, there are times when I prefer the variation to be without diagram node; in SGF this variation is still empty (;). Currently, I need to remove each diagram "n...

Re: Workaround for Tenuki

First Move is Tenuki Workaround: Alter the EXCEPTION_MOVE_MISSING procedure. Set EXCEPTION_MOVE_IS_PASS = {0} tenuki Restart Gowrite. Represent the first move as a pass. (This does not work if there are both tenukis and passes in one diagram.) Successive Tenukis Workaround: Alter the EXCEPTION_MOVE_...

Workaround for Tenuki

The following procedure makes it possible to show a specified text such as "tenuki" in the diagram exceptions. Different specified texts within one diagram are not supported yet. There are limitations for mixing specified texts and passes. - Use Gowrite 2_3_48 or later. (Possibly 2_3_45 or...

Re: Tenuki

My current book (Vol. 2) is already in print, but if I need it for Volume 3, I will try the workarounds if then the text is still fixed instead of dynamic. Dynamic exception text is probably my most needed missing reagular GW feature at the moment. Therefore I greatly appreciate your intention to pr...

Tenuki

Instead of moves called "pass.", I sometimes need to call the moves "play elsewhere", "tenuki", "ko-pass" etc. Is it possible to set, specifically for each particular exception move that is SGF-represented as a "pass", a comment text of one's own cho...

OpenOffice 3_3_0

Users of GW might wish to be careful when considering an update to OpenOffice 3_3_0 with 32b Java 6u22. I had to revert back to OpenOffice 3_2_1 and an earlier 32b Java because OpenOffice 3_3_0 changed the interpretation of GDI imported ODG diagrams: The grid lines become thicker. Viewed in 6400% sc...

Re: Crash Upon Opening Second Instance

After some usage of the corrected GW version, it appears that indeed the bug has been fixed, thank you! Just curious: What kind of bug was it?

Re: Delete Labels

Here is a file attached with which I get the problem. The file was created before. I closed GW window, opened GW and opened the file. Then I mark an area of the board including all stones and markup. Next in vain I try these actions to delete all markups / labels: - Click on DeleteBoardMarkings/Labe...

Re: Crash Upon Opening Second Instance

GW was not open (I did not check if it was still running as a process). Then I double click on an SGF and get this log. When closing GW and then double clicking on the same SGF again, GW starts normal without any error log. 110214 084451.263 gowrite.sgf.SGFUtil log INFO: start 1.6.0_22 / 2.3.43 in W...

Crash Upon Opening Second Instance

GW 2.3.43. When opening a second instance of GW (IIRC, rarely also when starting GW as a first instance), GW creates a Java language error log window that needs to be closed before one can proceed with using GW (but GW as a whole does not crash entirely). Afterwards working appears to be normal. IOW...

Delete Labels

GW 2.3.43.

When having just opened or opened again a file with labels, then pretty often the (e.g., root) diagram's labels cannot be deleted. I need a text editor to delete the L[] field.
