Re: Setting GW to Vista's Integrity Level Low
Your conclusions about working in low-integrity level sound reasonable. For configuration files: In windows proper solution would be to put these into registry; In Windows architecture registry is intended extract for this kind of information. Moving settings to registry is in todo list, but nowhere...

preview of gowrite 2.3 - updated
Long time no see! New preview of GOWrite 2.3 is now available. This version (2.3.2) add new features, and fixes relatively minor bugs. I am still developing this, but this development version is already quite useful. I am using it myself. Any feedback is most welcome. NOTES Keyboard Keyboard navigat...

Re: Accessed Files and Registry Keys
Hi, Again, I do not have access to vista, I cannot help you much. For files / dirs accessed you probably need to ask from someone who is more familiar with vista java behaviour; It seems to be key problem here. As with gowrite.exe, accesses can be difficult to understand, not to speak about predict....

Re: Not Found Files and Registry Keys
Hi, Currently I do not have good access to vista machine, so I have not verified your findings. For files accessed by gowrite.exe: I have not implemented such accesses, so I cannot say why they would happen. I can think of several reasons, but only way to know would be to look at stack trace for sys...

Re: FailedStartup
Hi,
GIJ (and GNU classpath) is still in development, and its UI support is somewhat lacking. Not much to be done there.
In order to change default java in ubuntu, you could look at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Java. This shoud fix the problem.
regards
Lauri

Re: FailedStartup
Hi, It seems there is something going wrong in Java's UI initialization. I don't know what it could be, have to take a look at it. One thing I noted: gowrite output shows it is using java 1.5.0. Perhaps gowrite is attemping to use GNU-classpath based java? GNU java is not yet mature, so different pr...

Re: Printing Question
Problem is quite simple: You should not add move numbers this way to stones. Do not use this feature in cgoban3, it makes things really messy to work with. Actually this first item in forum post http://www.gowrite.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=140 When you want to have diagram, where first move...

Re: Setting GW to Vista's Integrity Level Low
Java JRE does not document registry keys it uses in different situations. So as far as I know, only way to know accessed keys is to test it. gowrite code does not specifically address registry (there is no direct java API to do it), but JRE may access keys as part of some generic JRE functionality. ...

Re: Not Terminated Process
Ok, thank you for your answer and reasoning! This makes sense. (Except that one might offer a GUI parameter of how many seconds the process shall wait for termination.) Actually there is a way to switch it off for trouble-shooting. "Options" -> "GOwrite development and test" -> ...

Re: Indirect Network Access
Hi, All of these events are normal in GOWrite (as fas as firewall message is what I think it is). If you would understand the terms firewall is using, you would know that messages do not indicate attempt in network activity. In short: your firewall is mis-guiding you here. Here you have really only ...

Re: Indirect Network Access
Hi, These operations are not network related in any sense. All of them are rather normal windows program behavior. I cannot remove causes to them, and they have nothing to do with network access. GOWrite does no network access at all, except in one very specific case: GOWrite can downloading SGF fil...

Re: Not Terminated Process
Hi, Actually this behaviour is by design. GOWrite terminates itself within few minutes after last window is closed. Why this way? It is extremely common use-case to open SGF file, close it, open next sgf file, close it etc. If GOWrite would close itself immediately, user would have to wait for GOWri...

GOWrite 2.2.21
This is minor bug-fix update.
- * Show title in default diagram options prevented GOWrite from starting.
* Translation error in finnish translation (not only one, I guess)

Next versions
Hi, I am currently re-implementing large parts of GOWriteME to make it easier to develope further. I have long list of improvements I would like to make, but UI code was getting too difficult to maintain without major overhaul. I expect to produce completely new version of GOWriteME sometime around ...

Features in GOWrite 2.3?
GOWrite 2.3 features have been under thinking, my current ideas: * Better variation tree(s). Probably one way to browse very large variation trees (joseki libraries) and other one for game comments. * Text searches from game database. * Improvements to handling of problem collections. Exporting prob...
